The tone of the match was set by the level of
refereeing, which to be polite was terrible. Also conditions meant that it
was always going to be a fitness battle more than anything else.
Lodge got off to a good start with a Ryan
Stokes diving header from a corner, then a left foot half volley from Rob
Beckett on the edge of the area.
Two penalties were given against Lodge of
which one was saved, and Ste Reid was given his marching orders in the
second half to cap off a dismal start to the season for the league
favourites.
The heat eventually tired out both sides who
were obviously not match fit.

With five first teamers absent Lodge were
always going to struggle for their first three points of the season.
Ryan Stokes gave us the perfect lead winning a
challenge with the keeper to nod in the opener.
After totally dominating the opening ten
minutes Lodge failed to take control of the game, we struggled to string
any passes together and when not in possession, didn't seem interested in
challenging for anything either, especially in the air up front. K-Star
eventually got the better of the terrific defensive display from the back
four going 2-1 up then completing the rout with 3 goals in the last 20
mins. |

After 2 league games without a point it was a
welcome break from league fixtures to start our cup campaign. And who
better than the green machine, who we regularly take points from in the
league.
With most first teamers back, so came the
passing, movement, then goals. After losing Ste Griffin in the first 10
minutes (warm up obviously not high on his agenda), Ryan Stokes continued
his goal streak to tap in a cross. This was followed by a continuous
stream of openings and efforts, none of which the finishing could match
the fantastic play beforehand. Eventually the continued pressure paid off
and the killer goals coming from Lee Wolverson and Luke Stokes opening
their accounts. Wylde Green had no answer to the beautiful game being
played by lodge, who cruised through to the next round. Oh and Peter Bojan
missed a penalty the nause. |

With no allocated referee for this game Lodge
were still confident of claiming their first 3 points of the season from
the shell shocked green machine - still searching for their own first
points, aswell as their engine!
Lodge carried on their form from the week
before and from the start never looked in danger. With more great passing
and movement we went 2-0 up and were coasting until Wylde Green hit back
with a goal against the run of play.
At 2-1 Falcon Lodge were rattled for a short
while, but after getting over the nervous spell, hit the 3rd goal to
finish off any hopes Green had of getting anything out of this game. |

Looking for revenge after a shocking defeat on
the first day of the season and boosted by 2 straight 3-1 wins Lodge got
straight to work on Rangers and it looked like another home win was on the
cards. However, despite creating chance after chance, Lodge failed to put
anything away, we had all the pressure but eventually our lack of
finishing was to cost us dear when John Littlewood brought down a Rangers
player in the box during the second half, the resulting penalty being
slotted home. Certain players had many chances but chose the selfish glory
route rather than the easier team-mate option every time.
Queslett Rangers only had 1 notable chance
other than the penalty and that was a bread and butter save, but
unfortunately we were our own downfall and our inability to put chances
away sent us crashing out of the challenge cup in the first round. |

Apparently Boliden Sports & Social hadn't lost
at home for a long time, some people mentioned years, so Lodge were always
gonna be in for a tough game.
The game was a very tight affair and from the
start we could tell there wouldn't be many goals in the fixture. Lodge got
straight to work and after creating quite a few chances Ste Griffin
eventually opened the scoring with a tap in from 6 yards.
It wasn't long though before Boliden hit back
to square it up.
Lodge, not used to playing on such a wide
pitch, were leaving gaps in the channels where all Bolidens good openings
were created from. But the back four always looked comfortable and solid,
with Dale Wolverson in particular impressing on the left.
Whereas Lodge never looked like conceding, nor
did we look like scoring until a break away goal from Lee Wolverson
wrapped up another 3 league points.
The ref had to stop for a 10 minute nose
bleed, after a clearance hit him, oh well. |

The game got off to a frantic start with all
the chances and possession falling to Lodge. The first 45 mins was totally
dominated by the Wanderers, going for their 3rd straight win. There were 3
first half goals, 1 for Luke Stokes and another brace for Lee Wolverson.
We also went close with Ste Griffin hitting the post from 2 yards out and
a Macca header from a corner being brilliantly saved by the outstanding
opposition keeper. The deluge wasn't to continue though, and with players
minds thinking of double figures, Star hit back with 2 second half goals
in 15 mins. Lodge, now rattled, then had the chance to extend their lead
with a penalty, which Luke Stokes missed, this was followed by a red card
for the striker for violent conduct (dick!). The last 10 mins were a
nervous affair, and once again our failure to put away chances nearly cost
us another 2 points, but we held out for the win. Danny Wilks impressing,
especially with those silky pirouetting turns on the edge of our own area,
NOT! |

Looking to take our league form into the cup
we were confident of getting a result at Orton, that was until we saw the
pitch. With a crossbar that had Michelle McManus sitting on it all night
and a boggy pitch we weren't optimistic.
Lodge struggled to get their usual passing
game together on the bog, and Orton did work hard to force mistakes. This
paid off they breezed into an early 2-0 lead before we had even woke up.
2nd half we slowly got to grips with the game,
pulled 1 back through Wolverson, and started to dominate. Eventually our
pressure paid off and we got a deserved equaliser, again through Wolverson.
From here it looked like there was only going to be one winner, that was
until with 5 mins to go an Orton player crossed from the right and somehow
the wind took it over our goalkeeper and into the net. Lodge were unlucky
to lose the game but in the end, not for the first time this season, our
failure to put away good chances, cost us dear again. |

After a disappointing result in our last game,
we were looking to bounce back against Nomads who had registered just the
1 victory this season.
Lodge got off to a flyer, totally dominating
the midfield and in full control of the game. Nomads simply had no answer
to our slick passing and movement, and by the start of the second half we
were 4-1 up. We also had a blatant penalty turned down as Macca was
bundled over as he went to shoot, after a great bit of play with Rob
Beckett. From here though Lodge looked comfortable and changes were made,
unfortunately they rocked the steady ship and Nomads pulled 3 goals out of
no-where to make it 4-4. Thankfully we kept our heads and knuckled down
straight away and bagged another 2 goals, before Nomads hit another in the
last few minutes. A special note must be made to Lee Wolverson's finishing
which was of the highest standard and the five goals here took him to an
amazing 12 goals in 8 games, keep em coming!! |

Well after a goal-fest last week, Lodge
travelled to Wylde Green optimistic of grabbing another bagful.
Unfortunately it wasn't to be.
The game was well contested, but with Lodge
dominating the possession and creating all the chances. There was acres of
room in the middle of the park and the midfield was able to run the show
quite comfortably, creating many chances with Danny Wilks and Rob Beckett
going close. A John Littlewood free-kick also hitting the bar. But at half time there was still no break through and
concerns that players were getting caught in possession too much.
Second half and not much changed, our team
talk hadn't had any effect as certain players still got caught, and others
just didn't bother seeking out team mates in dead cert goal scoring
positions. Eventually it cost us, around 70mins the green machine
contested a header from a cross and it somehow looped over the helpless
goalie. It was one of very few chances for Wylde Green, but it was enough.
And once again our inability to put chances away cost us. |

After a week off it was back to business for
Lodge against Orton Rangers, who last time we met, dumped us out of the
cup with a freak goal. So with much still to prove we were determined to
show we were the better side.
The game started well, with Lodge having most
of the chances and going ahead early on. But Orton were still having a lot
of possession in the middle. For all their possession though they couldn't
find a way through a solid back line. A couple more goals saw Lodge go in
at half time 3-0 up and with the game more or less in the bag. A deflected
own goal by Macca wasn't enough to help Orton come back and at 3-1 we
still had enough in us to get the 4th through Jonny Cartwright. There were
a few niggles in the game but other than that it passed by smoothly and
Lodge surged 4 points clear at the top of division 2. |

Lodge went into this match pretty confident
and from the start never looked like they would leave with anything less
than 3 points. Bojan gave us the lead with a super finish in the box and
although we looked solid at the back, we failed to increase the lead
before half time.
Second half Lodge piled on the pressure and
eventually Wolverson pulled the ball back for Grove to slot in. A
fantastic individual effort from Wilks on a dazzling run from the halfway
line and then a comical goal from Ryan Stokes put the points in the bag.
The rout was finished off when Ryan latched onto a through ball, rounded
the keeper and finished to make it five. Sporting will still be cursing
their Kanu style miss late on but it wouldn't have affected the outcome,
and Falcon Lodge go marching on towards division one. |

clash but the game got off to a scrappy start and never really got out of

Lodge showed glimpses of play that has seen
them surge clear at the top, but they were too rare and they spent most of
the game chasing B.C.S players around. Two silly mistakes gifted B.C.S
their goals but they also had good chances to finish Lodge off, including
a shot hitting the bar. They never though, and when Macca diverted in a
free-kick at the far post, it set up a tense last 15 minutes but the
wanderers just couldn't manage to score the second and crashed to their
1st league home defeat of the season. |

game, especially after last weeks disappointing result at home. Once again

The opening goal went to Coleshill who, due to
some dismal marking, were allowed a free header from a corner. Un-deterred

low shot from inside the area.
The second half saw Lodge pushing on, with
Coleshill creating the odd counter attack, and eventually got the
breakthrough with a header from a corner by Ste Griffin. The following 15
minutes were quite tense as Coleshill pushed on in search of the equalizer
but the Wanderers managed to hold out and get their final 3 points of the

Lodge started the defence of the Aston Villa
cup against Nomads who were struggling in the League. We got off to a good
start dominating possession and creating chances. Wilks headed in a corner
to start the goal fest but after that Lodge failed to capitalise on the
wind advantage. Second half we feared being against the wind would be our
downfall but Ryan Stokes scored early, only for Nomads to respond
immediately. The next 10 mins Nomads put us under constant pressure and it
looked like an equaliser was on the way but the defence stood firm and
eventually we got the 3rd through a Ryan Stokes chip. Now the pressure was
off, Lodge got the ball down and played it around again, the goals
followed. From that point on the goals came steadily and Nomads lost their
appetite after falling so far behind. The game died out in the late stages
but Falcon Lodge had already done enough, even though the game for a long
period was a lot closer than the score suggests. |

Back to the league and it was business as
usual for the Wanderers. They always looked comfortable in this game,
especially after using the wind to their advantage in the first half and
going a few goals up early on through Beckett, Ryan Stokes and a Dale
Wolverson free-kick - all were tidy finishes. Ryan scored another to give
a 4 goal lead at half time. Second half Lodges weakness at corners were
exposed again and 2 goals in quick succession gave the visitors a lift,
and just like last week the wanderers had to overcome a spell of constant
pressure, but the game was put beyond doubt soon after with Stokes
completing his hat-trick and then Wilks rounded off the scoring with a
solo run and neat finish. In the end another comfortable win on paper, but
a stronger side may still pose a threat if certain areas are not improved

in this game, and even though there weren't many chances early on they
took the lead when Dale Wolverson latched onto a poor goal kick and
continued to beat the keeper with a clinical finish. After this though it
was Boliden who had all the possession but their poor finishing meant
Lodge went in 1-0 up at half time. It wasn't long though before Boliden's
constant attacks were rewarded with an equalizer after some shoddy
defending at the back. There only looked one result on the cards after
this as Boliden also had the slight slope advantage but somehow Lodge
managed to score 2 goals against the run of play in the final 10 mins
through Ryan & Luke Stokes (no relation) and steal all 3 points. Boliden
will feel robbed when they look back but as we all know when things are

perceived as the toughest of the season, this game started with chances
few and far between. In the second half though Villa took an early lead
which seemed to spur Lodge into life. The game opened up and chances
started to come for Lodge, even though they failed to put them away. Lodge
equalized though through Lee Wolverson with 20 mins to go, but were dealt
a blow when Beasley left the pitch with a broken nose, Ryan Stokes proving
a more than capable deputy. Into extra time and Lodge rode their luck with
Villa hitting the woodwork 3 times, then just like an FA cup special, a
clearance in the last minute somehow got through to Luke Stokes who held
his nerve to slot home the winner. Lodge didn't deserve this victory but
just maybe their superb performances all season allowed one poor one to

In a match played in poor conditions, Lodge
seemed to adapt to the conditions better in the first half. They dominated
possession but failed to find the breakthrough mainly due to a star
performance from the Case Star keeper.
Early in the second half Lodge got their
deserved lead but seemed to sit back and fall asleep. Not for the first
time this season their lack of concentration at set pieces cost dear twice
and suddenly they were one goal down staring at defeat.
Somehow, yet again the gods took pity on
Falcon Lodge Wanderers and offered them an extra point towards their
plight with an equalising goal. There are certain concerns though that set
pieces will cost us more than just points this season if things aren't
tightened up. |

broken nose) through a dislocated finger. Ryan Stokes again stepped in and
5 mins later somehow flumped the ball into his own net. Lodge never let
the undeserved equaliser get them down and stepped up the gas to score
another before half time through Ste Griffin. Case Star rallied in the
second half but failed to break through the solid Lodge back line.
So, in a Semi Final reminiscent of last years
against Wylde Green, Lodge worked hard to earn their Cup final and surely
look favourites to retain it. |

After a seemingly good start & taking the lead
through Luke Stokes' 7th goal in as many games, the wheels well & truly
came off in this game for Lodge. This was by far the worst performance of
the season and maybe since John Littlewood took over at the helm. Too many
players lacked effort, vision, ability and mainly commitment. Orton
dominated the game after Lodges opener and the goals game regularly from
then on. The wanderers were well and truly wandering but they still
managed to create openings, including 3 or 4 one on ones with the keeper -
only to spurn them poorly. The only thing they will take from this is a
much needed kick up the behind. It has been coming after a succession of
below par performances that have been degrading each week until finally
culminating in this humiliation by a side who we really should be beating
comfortably. There are certainly testing times ahead with tough league
games coming up. |

Lodge knew they were going to have to produce
one of their best performances to beat Villa and they didn't fail to
deliver. The whole match was a tough physical affair with strong
challenges throughout, but all in good spirit. After a shaky 1st 10 mins
Lodge started to get a grip on the game, with acres of room in the middle
of the park where they had time to work the ball with the strikers. Ste
Griffin broke the deadlock midway through the 1st half and the chances
continued after that, although Villa were still creating their own. 2nd
half Lodge managed to score the 2nd goal that would seal the points
through Wilks, but K/S still pushed on the back 4 with new GK Nick Clarke
making 2 notable saves amongst others. Lodge held out though and we all
agreed that these were the most hard earned 3 points of the campaign. |

The game got off to a bad start, Lodge
conceding in the first 10mins, sloppy defending initially leading to a
good finish from Lakeside. But Lodge were having all the possession and
chances and eventually after about 20mins Lee Mcdonald headed in a Danny
Wilks corner to equalise. Lodge pushed on from here and with most of the
support in there favour they looked good for the next goal. Unfortunately,
they missed too many chances and just before half-time fell asleep at the
back allowing a throw-in to bounce onto the penalty spot where a Lakeside
player slotted home his 2nd unchallenged.
Second half saw Lodge pushing on even more in
search of their second equaliser of the game, but again, chance after
chance went begging and they must have wondered if it was going to be
their night. Eventually Lakeside had a break and they scored the decisive
3rd goal, after some confusion on the halfway line a loose ball over the
top and the Lakeside player strode home and finished his hat-trick.
Shortly after this Luke Stokes fired home from an acute angle to set up a
entertaining final 15mins in which Lodge could have scored another 2 at
least, Lakeside did have a few more chances with Lodge searching for a
3rd, but Ryan Stokes kept hopes alive with a fantastic save towards the
end. Lakeside managed to hold on, and although Lodge did more than enough
to win it, the difference between the sides on the night was the level of
finishing. |

The game started well for Lodge with a few
good chances in the opening 10 mins, however they probably lost it in the
next 20. Three times the defence was caught out by a ball over the top to
the Coleshill striker who scored. After this madness Lodge stabilised the
ship and began the task of clawing something back. But, once again they
spent the whole game launching attack after attack with no end product.
Terry Cartwright pulled one back before half time to give hope and, second
half Luke Stokes grabbed the second, although after hitting the bar and
missing an open goal from 6 yards, he should be celebrating a hat-trick.
Lodge were getting closer to the 3rd goal with all the pressure and
Coleshill obviously sensed this, so they took the easy way out and raised
the flag on every single Lodge attack in the last 15mins. How they are not
top of this league with a linesman of this quality is nothing short of
amazing! |

Lodge once again started well but failed to
score a few good chances early on. Although they weren't hitting the net,
they looked comfortable and in no real danger of conceding, this was the
case for most of the match. Midway through the 1st half though the ref
blew his whistle out of nowhere to award a penalty to Lakeside (who were
about to take a throw-in), which was well saved by Nick Clarke. 2nd half
chances continued to come.... and go, with one passage of play seeing 3
players with goal scoring opportunities, but ended with Wilks hitting the
woodwork from all of 6 yards. Out of nowhere Clarke, who had little to do
apart from the penalty, managed to let a cross squeeze through his arms
and Lakeside slotted the free ball home. Lodge still had 30mins to find an
equaliser but could have played til tea-time and not have scored. At the
end of the day after all those chances missed by Lodge they can't complain
as even if they hadn't conceded the soft goal the best result they would
have got would be a 0-0 draw. |

Lodge came into this game on the back of 3
defeats and needing 3 points to try and claim 2nd spot. The game was tough
and physical but there were very few chances at both ends. Early on Terry
Cartwright had a couple of good chances but they were probably the only
notable ones of the game. Both sides were wasting a lot of possession with
long aimless balls to no-one and sloppy passes to opposition players. The
ref only made things worse with poor indecisive decisions both ways. Lodge
won their 1st corner in the last 5 minutes but failed to capitalise on it
or the other 2 that followed with one cross from the segment bouncing
right in the 6 yard box with not a soul near it! Unfortunately, this draw
was not enough for Lodge who needed to win their last 2 games to claim
second spot. Now only 3 points against Kingstanding can guarantee 3rd
spot. |

Report
Oh dear, Lodge were looking to make amends for poor recent
results by finishing the season with a win and although they lost an early
goal, it did look like there were goals in the game for them. But their
game started getting sloppy and passes started going astray too often,
with possession given away too cheaply. Long ball after long ball to 5ft
strikers isn't very clever football but some players just don't get it.
Kingstanding's 2nd goal game after a penalty was given on the edge of the
box. Lodge once again had chances to score in this game but at the other
end they were being given a lesson in finishing with all 3 open play goals
for K/S being of the highest quality, the 4th in injury time standing out
when a near post corner was turned in on the volley. The difference
between the two today was the finishing and Lodge have a lot of work to do
before next season, with the second lowest goals scored in the league,
some will be surprised which half of the table we are in! |
